After years of working with children with disabilities as an Occupational Therapist, Gerry pursued a career in filmmaking—a life-long passion. Inspired by a vision of sharing the spirit of people in Manila living in extreme poverty, he completed courses in film production at New York University-SCPS  A couple of his short films have played in festivals in the US. Gerry has written several screenplays, two of which were finalists for the 26th and 27th AAIFF Screenwriting Competition.

In December of 2004, Gerry went to the Philippines, where he was born and raised and instituted an acting workshop open to the residents of the Philippine’s largest garbage-collecting town.  Graduates of the workshop acted in his first feature film, The Mountain Thief.  The film is currently in its film festival run and has won awards. Gerry is also currently working on his next feature The Silence Of Manila, a political- psychological thriller, which he intends to direct in 2011.

Michael Tremante draws upon his experience as a multi-instrumentalist, performer, and music producer when creating music for film. Since 2004 he has worked on several award-winning films, scoring fourteen features and more than twenty shorts. Classical training, contemporary sensibility and experimentation inform his work, with an interest in combining traditional and nontraditional instruments and sound elements. Michael began his film music career assisting Academy Award winning composer Howard Shore and served as Associate Music Producer on Peter Jackson’s “The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship of The Ring” and Music Co-Producer on David Fincher’s “Panic Room and David Cronenberg’s “Spider”.

Music Score

A unique feature of this film is the fact that in addition to the professional film crew of more than 40, the actors and several garbage collecting town residents of Payatas, played a major role in the production design, art direction, wardrobe, set construction and location scouting of the film, they were very active in giving their very personal input in developing and giving the authenticity needed for the film.
